Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor are Sabir Khan’s Heer and Ranjha
Deepika Padukone is one actress who has paired opposite many heroes comfortably. After Deepika Padukone-Farhan Akhtar, Deepika-Imran, Deepika-Neil Nitin Mukesh and Deepika-Abhishek, the actress is now set to make a screen pair with Shahid Kapoor in Sabir Khan’s ‘Heer and Ranjha’. Sabir has already assisted in movies like Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and directed the disastrous Kambakht Ishq.
Now, Deepika Padukone is quite tall and is always conscious that she would look taller than her hero. Before the shooting of Karthik Calling Karthik, Farhan Akhtar had to actually stand next to her, and show her that he can match her height. However Sabir is quick to explain and says, “I don’t think it really makes a difference if the leading lady is taller than the hero.
“We opted for Deepika Padukone because we needed a face that could look contemporary and classical. Among the current line-up of actresses, only she could measure up to my script’s demands. As for Shahid, he’s an intense actor. I’m positive this pair can project the pangs of passionate love,” he added.

Shilpa Shetty’s anniversary gift: An apartment in the world’s tallest building
It seems that marriage is showering bliss on leggy lass Shilpa Shetty. She had a surprise gift awaiting her on her first wedding anniversary when hubby Raj Kundra gifted her a luxury apartment on the ninetieth floor of the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, Dubai. Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and IS the tallest man-made structure ever built, at 828 m with 160 floors. The world’s highest swimming pool is located on the 76th floor.
Shilpa had visited Dubai a few months ago, had loved the building and expressed a wish of staying there. Raj just grabbed the opportunity to express his love and gifted the keys to Shilpa in Mumbai a week ago.

“Kangna plays Sanjana who believes that she is the most beautiful girl on earth. This is a kind of role that she has never done before. Her entire look too has gone through a complete makeover in the film. I am sure audience will really like this new ‘roop’ of hers,” added Bazmi.

No Rolls Royce for Sanjay Dutt’s babies on their home coming
Sanjay Dutt’s newborn twins have finally left the Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and are home now. However, the babies could not make their journey back home in Daddy Dear’s newly purchased Rolls Royce. It so happened that Maanyata was to deliver the babies on November 23 and Dutt had planned the delivery of the car on November 28. However, the babies came into the world earlier and though Sanju did try to bring the car as early as possible but Rolls Royce couldn’t make it to babies.
Nevertheless, the home coming was a joyous affair for the family. The babies left the hospital in the arms of Manyata and Sister Priya Dutt. They reached home at 2 pm and are housed at two of the nurseries that Manyata made for them. Manyata and Sanju were greeted with an aarti by Sanju’s sister, Namrata Dutt on their homecoming.

Saif Ali Khan to play Krish of Chetan Bhagat’s ‘2 States’
Chetan Bhagat’s novels have already been made into successful movies earlier with like Hello (”One Night At The Call Centre”) and 3 Idiots (”5 Point Someone”). However, Bhagat was not so keen into personal involvement in both these flicks but since Siddhartha Anand’s ‘2 States’, a film adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s book, based on his own real-life experience, of a Punjabi boy who wants to marry his Tamil sweetheart but only with the consent of both their parents, is closer to his heart, he is taking keen interest in the film.
Saif Ali Khan has been chosen to play the lead and the actor plans to spend time with Chetan Bhagat to understand his character, Krish, and get into Krish’s mind. Says Bhagat on the film, “It is not important for Krish to be played by a Punjabi or Ananya to be played by a Tamilian. I’m aware Saif is not a Punjabi. To me that serves the story’s purpose even better. The whole idea of 2 States is to convey a pan-India appeal. The novel is about an inter-state union. What better way to show this than to have a non-Punjabi actor playing my Punjabi protagonist?”
Bhagat admits that 2 States is his most personal novel to date and the screen adaptation most precious to him. “Like Krish in my novel I fell in love with a Tamil girl and we decided to marry only with the parents’ consent. Also, the notice from the I&B ministry states that such shows can not have any repeat telecast between 5am and 11pm. Moreover, the clippings of these reality shows can not be aired on news channels between 5am and 11pm.
This surely will cast a big blow on the TRP ratings of the show.

Deepika Padukone may be busy with the promotion of her forthcoming ‘Break Ke Baad’ these days but she is all excited about her upcoming next “Desi Boyz” with Akshay Kumar and John Abraham as lead actor. The film marks the directorial debut of Rohit Dhawan, elder son of comedy King David Dhawan and is a romantic comedy with Anupam Kher and Chitrangada Singh in supporting roles.
It was a memorable day at Mehboob studios when all the cast of the film had gathered along with Rohit Dhawan. Salman Khan, who has been sharing cold vibes with John Abraham for over 4 years following a misunderstanding at a stage show, came to the sets to meet Akshay, Sanjay, Deepika and director Rohit Dhawan. There he saw John and what came as a pleasant surprise was that they stepped forward and hugged. They were also spotted having lunch together.

Will Aamir and Salman re-create the magic of ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’?
The Bollywood history can never forget the amazing chemistry between Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Andaaz Apna Apna’ and it came as a welcome news for all the cinegoers when the director announced the sequel to this blockbuster comedy.
Rajkumar Santoshi and Aamir were toying with idea of sequel for long, but they had not reached a final decision uptil now. Now, they have formed a complete picture in their mind about the storyline of the sequel and have decided to proceed further. Though Aamir personally does not prefer the idea of sequels a lot, he has decided to go for a change with this one. The idea has been initiated to Aamir by Salman himself.

Preity Zinta & Cherie Blair: Bonding well for a cause
Preity Zinta may be away from flashlights for quite sometime now, giving more time and attention to her business moves than her acting career but the lady surely is as active and happening as ever. She will be the only celebrity to meet and greet the former First Lady of Britain, Cherie Blair, who will be visiting India in the month of December.
The two developed great rapport when they met at the annual Diwali charity auction in Britain hosted by The Loomba Trust that has been generously supported by former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s wife. Preity and Cherie talked on several issues like healthcare, infant mortality rate, female foeticide and the need for nutrition for most pregnant women in India.
Cherie’s visit to India will deal with issues regarding the upliftment of the conditions of the underprivileged and needy here. Preity also plans to throw a dinner for Blair but is in no mood to reveal her plans now. She said, “I cannot say what I’m planning to do for Cherie as it is really in the planning stages.”

First Look: Dil Toh Bachcha Hai ji
Madhur Bhandarkar has made a shift from realistic and serious cinema to fun and light comedy with ‘Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji’ and gave a peek at the first look of his flick at Twitter. Set to release on 28th January 2011, the film stars Ajay Devgn as Naren, Emraan Hashmi as Abhay, Omi Vaidya as Nikhil, Shazahn Padamsee as June, Shruti Haasan as Jia, Tisca Chopra as Pamela and Shraddha Das as Gungun Sarkar. The musical notes for the flick has been directed by Pritam Chakraborty, cinematography has been done by Ravi Walia and choreography for the film has been done by Sandip Soparrkar and Seema Desai. Sara and Ali finally become Mr. and Mrs. Merchant in the Big Boss House
Media is abuzz these days with the news that Sara Ali and Ali Merchant are already married and they chose to go for a marriage ceremony on ‘Big Boss’ as the channel had offered them a huge sum in order to boost the popularity of the show. However, nothing could stop the couple from tying the knots and the show climbing higher on the TRP ratings.
The two have finally said ‘Kubool Hai’ to each other in the presence of Ali’s parents and Big Boss inmates. Jay Bhanushali and Krystal De Souza were among the select few invited to the House for the wedding. The wedding couple donned on the attire designed by ace designer Vikram Phadnis. Jacqueline Fernandez replaces Mallika Sherawat in ‘Murder 2′
It was ‘Murder’ which gave a push to Mallika Sherawat’s career making her the oomph queen of Bollywood. However, Miss Sherawat could not handle the success with her head in place and went about bragging that the film owed its success to her, thus ruining her relationship with co-star Emraan Hashmi and the Bhatt camp.
So, now when the Bhatts are planning a sequel to Murder, it will not have Mallika in the lead and she has been replaced by the Sri Lankan beauty Jacqueline Fernandes. The male lead has however not been finalized yet.
The director of the sequel to Murder has changed from Anurag Basu to Mohit Suri. Miss Fernandez was not the first choice for the role. The makers of the film had approached several actresses before her including the likes of Bipasha Basu. Though Jacqueline has been in the tinselt own for quite sometime now, she has not yet tasted success. We hope this film gives the same push to her career as it had given to Mallika’s career.

From the time Madhur Bhandarkar approached Kareena Kapoor for his ambitious project ‘Heroine’, there have been speculations off and on about Kareena denying the project due to varied reasons. First it was said that Kareena wanted to delete the five lovemaking scenes in the film, which features a Bollywood actor with two kids. It was because her beau Saif Ali Khan bears close resemblance with the character. Again, it was said that quit the film because her director friend Lovely Singh’s father was not allowed to meet Bhandarkar, even after waiting for three hours at his office. Latest reports also have it that his producers want to start with the project immediately – with or without Kareena and the latter’s current work commitments make her busy for more than a year.

Bipasha Basu enjoying her holiday in Australia
Bong beauty Bipasha Basu is at present in Brisbane for the initial rehearsals for her first international project - English-French director Roland Joffe’s “Singularity”. With this trip the actress has finally managed to break the jinx which had been associated with her Australia trip for all these years.
Says the actress, “I had been trying to plan a holiday in Australia since many years. But due to something or the other, all plans used to get spoilt. This year, I am glad I have been able to break the jinx.”
Meanwhile, the actress has also expressed her desire to play the mythological character Draupadi. “I would love to play the character of Draupadi. In fact, I got an offer but right now it’s hanging in the air somewhere. I think it’s a very dynamic mythological character and I think I’ll do it well,” Bipasha told a news daily.
